Unemployment and the Rich

Are we the only developed country in the world in which the jobless, through no fault of their own, may lose their unemployment benefits, while at the same time, the mega-rich, may be given a further break on their income taxes?  The middle class sees its numbers shrinking, as people lose their livelihoods, leading to loss of their homes and other assets.  Some have moved into their cars, and others onto the streets..  One in eight persons is now on food stamps.  Many other families do not have enough to eat.  This, in the richest country in the world.
Some say the unemployed  are lazy and could find jobs if they tried harder, which is ridiculous.  There just aren't the jobs, although the corporate world is piling up cash.  As Warren Buffett has said, there is a war between the rich and the poor, and the rich are winning.
It seems we have arrived at a time when people look out for themselves and nobody else.  So many have no concern for the unfortunate,  which is easily seen by reading blogs on the internet.  There is widespread thinking that the poor are to blame for their circumstances, that they are lazy, and living on the "dole."  They seem to think that a family of four can easily live on $300 a week, which is the average unemployment check.
They claim the rich must have their breaks because they are the people who create jobs.  This has become debatable.  Some economists say the rich save the excess, rather than investing in jobs. As is generally known, the rich of today make the rich of 25 years ago look like paupers.  The spread between the rich and everyone else has become huge.  Rather than becoming philanthropists like Buffett and Gates, some bankroll organizations like the tea parties, who espouse their point of view, which is less government and everyone for himself..
     Well, enough complaining for today.
